Match Report
Inverness
Spectators: 6774 (Terracing: 5000,
Seating: 1774, VIP seats: 0) Edward McBaxter showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Les Barrie in the 12th minute of the match. If David Dallas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Evan McKessock fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Murray Ewart having to interfere. After a rather tough play, BREXIT YES!'s William Campbell got a free kick in the 29th minute. After a defensive mix-up in BREXIT YES!'s zone, Evan McKessock stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Murray Ewart came out of the goal and Evan McKessock tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 35 played minutes, Inverness City's Luke Brown shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Murray Ewart came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Inverness City reached it. David Dallas was extremely unlucky when he, in the 41st minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. 41 minutes into the match, David Dallas notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of BREXIT YES!'s Murray Ewart. Murray Ewart was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Les Barrie's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Edward McBaxter read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 46th minute of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Declan Neilson to strike the kick off in the second half. Inverness City's Edward McBaxter proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 53rd minute of the match, managed to save Inverness City from getting a goal against them. Murray Ewart made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Evan McKessock in the 54th minute of play. Theo Barns hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. If Evan McKessock had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 62nd minute, Evan McKessock ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Murray Ewart was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-0. Frank Dunbar's late challenge caught a BREXIT YES!'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Frank Dunbar helped the player get up and apologised. In the 72nd minute the ball was on its way in behind BREXIT YES!'s goalkeeper Murray Ewart, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. David Dallas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 80th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience was convinced that Evan McKessock's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Murray Ewart was relentless in the 81st minute of the game. After 82 minutes, Sid McUlric mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the BREXIT YES! and the Inverness City players grew even worse after the yellow card. Vincent McDuffie's late challenge caught a Inverness City's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Vincent McDuffie helped the player get up and apologised. After 89 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for BREXIT YES!! Bob Barry placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Inverness City fully deserved thier win.
