Spectators: 6780 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1780, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Quentin Hay got the match started through his kick off. If Drew McFie had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Quentin Hay might have been able to make a better finish in the 10th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mike Devlin. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Quentin Hay ran back to his position shaking his head. 13 minutes into the game, Edmond Lair cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Mark McKimmie was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Mike Devlin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Drew McFie in the 16th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Cowes's Ricky Hill got a free kick in the 20th minute. Cowes's Mike Devlin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Quentin Hay in the 23rd minute of play. Edmond Lair sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mike Devlin came out of the goal in the 28th minute to try and stop a shot by Stromness's Drew McFie. But to his dismay, Drew McFie quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. When Quentin Hay came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the Stromness fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Quentin Hay couldn't finish the play. 36 minutes into the game, one of Cowes:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 38th minute there was a penalty for Stromness. Dylan McKinven stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Mike Devlin. 1-2. When the match had gone on for 44 minutes, Edmond Lair put it in 2-2 from a short distance just to the right of Mark McKimmie. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ricky Hill made a kick off. Mark McKimmie took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edmond Lair, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cowes's Mike Devlin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Archie Ellis in the 57th minute of play. Drew McFie received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Mike Devlin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Edmond Lair fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mark McKimmie having to interfere. Quentin Hay recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 66th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Quentin Hay had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Edmond Lair had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Quentin Hay blasted a shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Mike Devlin having to make a save. 88 minutes into the game, Edmond Lair cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-2. Mark McKimmie was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When Tom McGreusich fell near the penalty area in the 91st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cowes's protests and gave Tom McGreusich a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Cowes getting a freekick after 91 minutes play. Tom McGreusich hit a great ball. Cowes were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Stromness for a fine match.
