After some fancy dribbling in the 48th minute, Derek Dyer managed to get in a good position for a shot. Stornoway's supporters rose to their feet, but Derek Dyer was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nathan Stalker breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After the first half Stornoway were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Stornoway's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alistair McColman was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Frank Colyear sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 72 minutes, Derek Dyer mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Stornoway and the Coldstream players grew even worse after the yellow card. Nigel McBean, 73 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Alan McBheath sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With his leg Nathan Stalker managed to avoid a goal in the 78thth minute, when Stornoway's Alistair McColman fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. If Frank Colyear had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 81 minutes, Matt Bowers mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Coldstream and the Stornoway players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Stornoway booed when Coldstream was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Matt Bowers didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gareth Barrie charged in rather forcefully in the 83rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. In the 97th minute, Craig Duncanson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
