Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Frank Colyear took the kick off in the first half of the match. Dylan McKinven kicked well hit freekick during the 5th minute of the match. In the 6th minute of the match, Frank Colyear tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Mark McKimmie saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. When Alistair McColman came up free with the goalie in the 9th minute, the Stornoway fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alistair McColman couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Quentin Hay in the 11th minute of play forced Stornoway's goalkeeper Mark McMichael to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Robert Simson hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. When Frank Colyear fell near the penalty area in the 15th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Stornoway's protests and gave Frank Colyear a yellow card for diving instead. 17 minutes into the game, Derek Dyer was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Stornoway's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Stromness the free kick. A collision led to Stornoway getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Derek Dyer hit a great ball. 24 minutes into the match, Stromness's Drew McFie sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Mark McMichael narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Alistair McColman blasted a shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Mark McKimmie having to make a save. Frank Colyear's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mark McKimmie read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 27th minute of play. Mark McKimmie made a fantastic save in the 30th minute, when Alistair McColman sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of Stornoway booed when Stromness was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Archie Ellis didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 38th minute Frank Colyear shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mark McKimmie saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 42nd minute, Irvin Coulter hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 43rd minute of the match Dylan McKinven shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Mark McMichael showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. If Alistair McColman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Archie Ellis hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. Frank Colyear received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. Mark McKimmie tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

If Quentin Hay had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 60thth minute of the game Frank Colyear who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Stromness's Mark McKimmie was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 64th minute, Frank Colyear got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Mark McMichael was a little too slow when Drew McFie got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 66th minute. The score was now 0-1. After a defensive mix-up in Stornoway's zone, Quentin Hay stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mark McMichael came out of the goal and Quentin Hay tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Drew McFie fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mark McMichael having to interfere. Mark McKimmie showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Frank Colyear in the 81st minute of the match. Mark McKimmie didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Frank Colyear went, in the 89th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Quentin Hay managed to get in a good position for a shot. Stromness's supporters rose to their feet, but Quentin Hay was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mark McMichael breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Stromness's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
