Partick Thistle F.C.'s Graham McCaul played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Evan McHendry in the 8th minute of play. Michael Forester sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Grant McKessock fell near the penalty area in the 21st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Partick Thistle F.C.'s protests and gave Grant McKessock a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Partick Thistle F.C.'s Ronald McGruder got a free kick in the 23rd minute. 24 minutes into the match, Balloch Gers's Gareth Keene broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. When Evan McHendry came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Balloch Gers fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Evan McHendry couldn't finish the play. Adam Dis came out of the goal in the 37th minute to try and stop a shot by Partick Thistle F.C.'s Anthony Ennis. But to his dismay, Anthony Ennis quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Ronald Bryde struck a weak shot in the 42nd minute. Adam Dis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Partick Thistle F.C.. With a little luck, Partick Thistle F.C.'s Graham McCaul got control of the ball when Michael Forester tried to sneak it across the goal line. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Anthony Ennis to make the kick off. If Anthony Ennis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ronald Bryde didn't get a good kick on the ball. Graham McCaul showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Evan McHendry, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. With a little luck, Balloch Gers's Adam Dis got control of the ball when Ronald Bryde tried to sneak it across the goal line. Adam Dis made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ronald Bryde in the 67th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Michael Forester in the 77th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Graham McCaul saved Partick Thistle F.C. from getting behind. A collision led to Balloch Gers getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Phillip Sherry hit a great ball. Michael Forester fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Graham McCaul having to interfere. In the 95th minute, Anthony Ennis got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
