The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the game, Blairgowrie's Angus Hay nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Richard Jamieson made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. 7 minutes into the match, Blairgowrie's goal looked a bit too open when Kenny McCrouther came free, but Wally McKissock reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Arthur McMillan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 8th minute of the match, but Wally McKissock made a huge save. Richard Jamieson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Angus Hay in the 11th minute of the match. 21 minutes into the match, ST. JOHNS CLUB's goal looked a bit too open when Aidan McLergain came free, but Richard Jamieson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Richard Jamieson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ross McCalmont in the 22nd minute of play. In the 24th minute Angus Hay shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Richard Jamieson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 25 minutes, Vinny Ainsworth mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the ST. JOHNS CLUB and the Blairgowrie players grew even worse after the yellow card. Vinny Ainsworth kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. Arthur McMillan succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-1 in the 29th playminute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Angus Hay in the 35th minute of play forced ST. JOHNS CLUB's goalkeeper Richard Jamieson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Richard Jamieson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joshua Mennie in the 40th minute of the match. Arthur McMillan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Vinny Ainsworth kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Angus Hay to strike the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 51st minute, Aidan McLergain managed to get in a good position for a shot. Blairgowrie's supporters rose to their feet, but Aidan McLergain was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Richard Jamieson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Arthur McMillan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Wally McKissock showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arthur McMillan, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. Richard Jamieson made a fantastic save in the 54th minute, when Ross McCalmont sent off a good shot on target. After 55 played minutes ST. JOHNS CLUB got a freekick which was hit by Kenny McCrouther. ST. JOHNS CLUB were furious when Iain McFadzean was red carded, 59 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 59th minute of the game. One of ST. JOHNS CLUB:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Blairgowrie:s goal. In the 61st minute there was a penalty for Blairgowrie. David Clarke stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Richard Jamieson. 1-2. Richard Jamieson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Angus Hay, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, ST. JOHNS CLUB's Richard Jamieson got control of the ball when Aidan McLergain tried to sneak it across the goal line. Joshua Mennie recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 68th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 70 minutes into the game, Blairgowrie's Aidan McLergain nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Richard Jamieson made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. 73 minutes into the match, Kenny McCrouther had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Wally McKissock. Blairgowrie's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Kenny McCrouther was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-3. 77 minutes into the match, ST. JOHNS CLUB's goalkeeper Richard Jamieson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Aidan McLergain. 78 minutes into the match, Angus Hay dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Richard Jamieson, 2-4. Richard Jamieson made an important save on a dangerous shot by Aidan McLergain in the 82nd minute. If Angus Hay had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 91st match minute, ST. JOHNS CLUB was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Robbie Pratt to maneuver through the defense. Richard Jamieson made a fantastic save in the 94th minute, when Aidan McLergain sent off a good shot on target. Richard Jamieson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Angus Hay in the 95th minute of play. After a rather tough play, ST. JOHNS CLUB's Kenny McCrouther got a free kick in the 98th minute. The ST. JOHNS CLUB fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Blairgowrie were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
