Fergus Beaton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tony Pitullich in the 9th minute of the match. 12 minutes into the match, Rangers FC's goalkeeper Tom McPherson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Anthony Davis. The Rangers FC fans' excitement grew in the 21st match minute when Rangers FC's Tony McPatrick looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tony Pitullich in the 25th minute of play forced Brunswick Rovers's goalkeeper Fergus Beaton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Rangers FC booed when Brunswick Rovers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. James Arthur didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Craig Gill in the 28th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Fergus Beaton prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After some careless play in the Brunswick Rovers defense, Tony McPatrick kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Fergus Beaton. The Brunswick Rovers fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Fergus Beaton should have stopped the shot. In the 35th minute Tony Pitullich shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fergus Beaton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fergus Beaton stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tony Pitullich's shot from short distance in the 41st minute. Tony Pitullich struck a weak shot in the 43rd minute. Fergus Beaton didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rangers FC. Hamish Aitken sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half Rangers FC were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jay McCombe made a kick off. Tony Pitullich sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 57th minute Anthony Davis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tom McPherson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With his leg Fergus Beaton managed to avoid a goal in the 58thth minute, when Rangers FC's Tony McPatrick fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tony Pitullich in the 63rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Fergus Beaton saved Brunswick Rovers from getting behind. Tony McPatrick sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With splendid footwork Tony Pitullich arrived in front of goal to shoot 0-7 by the left pole in the game's 78th minute. 90 minutes into the game, Tony Pitullich lined in a short shot 0-9 behind a frustrated Fergus Beaton. When the match was over Rangers FC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Brunswick Rovers throughout the match.
