Ronnie Ferries made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ray Tawesson in the 21st minute of play. In the 27th minute, Ray Tawesson fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Ronnie Ferries made an important save on a dangerous shot by Eric Day in the 29th minute. Inverness Caledonian FC's Eric Day got a good chance for a goal in the 30th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ronnie Ferries showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ray Tawesson, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. Phil McRobert showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jonathan Crawley in the 36th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Thomas McFarlane managed to get in a good position for a shot. Annihilators's supporters rose to their feet, but Thomas McFarlane was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Phil McRobert breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The referee gave Annihilators a penalty, 43 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Vinny Ross, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Inverness Caledonian FC's Phil McRobert. 2-1. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Ray Tawesson made the kick off in the second half. If Ray Tawesson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eric Day received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Phil McRobert took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jonathan Crawley, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 69 minutes into the match, Inverness Caledonian FC's goal looked a bit too open when Jonathan Crawley came free, but Phil McRobert reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 70 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Inverness Caledonian FC! In the 75th minute Eric Day shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ronnie Ferries saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 77 minutes into the match, Annihilators's Jonathan Crawley sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Phil McRobert narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Ray Tawesson struck a weak shot in the 79th minute. Ronnie Ferries didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Inverness Caledonian FC. Archie Lindsay was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 84th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal.
