Terry Laidlaw charged in rather forcefully in the 10th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Terry Laidlaw the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Inverness Caledonian FC booed when Los clásicos BFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Terry Laidlaw didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eric Day sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ronald Binnie showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ray Tawesson, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. In the 27th match minute, Los clásicos BFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Liam McDuffie to maneuver through the defense. 28 minutes into the match, Los clásicos BFC's goalkeeper Ronald Binnie had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Archie Lindsay. When Luke McOran fell near the penalty area in the 31st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Los clásicos BFC's protests and gave Luke McOran a yellow card for diving instead. Luke McOran kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. In the 32nd minute of the match Archie Lindsay shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ronald Binnie showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 33rd minute, Terry Laidlaw hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Phil McRobert showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Miles Wilkinson in the 36th minute of the match. In the 38th match minute, Los clásicos BFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Terry Laidlaw to maneuver through the defense. Eric Day received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Ronald Binnie tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

If Miles Wilkinson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alistair Simon was extremely unlucky when he, in the 57th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. With an all-out effort, Los clásicos BFC's Phil McRobert threw himself towards the right post 68 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Miles Wilkinson, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Eric Day recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 76th minute Eric Day shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ronald Binnie saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ray Tawesson's late challenge caught a Los clásicos BFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ray Tawesson helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Inverness Caledonian FC getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Ray Tawesson hit a great ball. Inverness Caledonian FC's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
