Rob McCrain tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rob McCrain showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kenny Michie in the 23rd minute of the match. Rob McCrain showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Barry Gibson, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Logan McKillop during the 25th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Fireverm getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Logan McKillop hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Jack Alderson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Fireverm's supporters rose to their feet, but Jack Alderson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Graham Stalker breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The crowd rose to their feet as Ray Allanson kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Graham Stalker. That made the score 1-0 in the 37 minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Fireverm's zone, Barry Gibson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rob McCrain came out of the goal and Barry Gibson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ronald McNish hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Fireverm's zone, Jamie McCansh stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rob McCrain came out of the goal and Jamie McCansh tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Rob McCrain showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Barry Gibson, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jack Alderson was the one to do the kick off. In the 55th minute Ray Allanson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Graham Stalker saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 57 minutes Wigtown's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Ronald McNish who took care of the corner kick. In the 69th match minute, Wigtown was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Elliot Mennie to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 73 minutes, Barry Gibson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Wigtown's supporters crossed their fingers, but Barry Gibson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Fireverm's Logan McKillop got a free kick in the 74th minute. When Barry Gibson, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 75 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Rob McCrain was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Barry Gibson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rob McCrain having to interfere. Ray Allanson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Graham Stalker having to interfere. If Kenny Michie had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
