The audience thought a goal was coming when Tim McCook got free with Drew Gowrie in the 19th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The nice shot from Tim McCook in the 20thth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Drew Gowrie had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. Steve McGrath received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Drew Gowrie tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 29 played minutes AV4 United got a freekick which was hit by Matthew McIock. Bradley McFergus had several of the AV4 United's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 32 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 2-0 score and a disappointed Drew Gowrie as he didn't even see the shot coming. The supporters of Dundee United Football booed when AV4 United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Taylor McKeamish didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dundee United Football's Jonathan Combie got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 46 played minutes AV4 United got a freekick which was hit by Liam McAuslane. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Douglas McPhater made a kick off. Bradley McFergus sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Dundee United Football booed when AV4 United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Matthew McIock didn't get a good kick on the ball. 59 minutes into the match, Dundee United Football's goalkeeper Darius Elliott had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rick Allanson. When the match clock showed 61 minutes, the score became 4-0 when Bradley McFergus sped through AV4 United's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Drew Gowrie. Drew Gowrie showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Steve McGrath in the 66th minute of the match. Bradley McFergus fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Drew Gowrie having to interfere. Drew Gowrie showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bradley McFergus, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. After a defensive mix-up in AV4 United's zone, Bradley McFergus stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Drew Gowrie came out of the goal and Bradley McFergus tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Tim McCook came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Dundee United Football fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tim McCook couldn't finish the play. After 89 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for AV4 United! A collision led to AV4 United getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Matthew McIock hit a great ball. In the 99th minute of the match Dundee United Football got a corner. AV4 United's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Bradley McFergus ran over to the corner to take the kick. Dundee United Football walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
