Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Finlay Weaver kicked off to start the match. In the 3rd minute, Nigel Dobie made a precise shot to the right of Ivan Meikleham. Glasgow City's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Ivan Meikleham took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ian McAy, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 14 minutes into the game, Balerno's Nigel Dobie nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ivan Meikleham made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Rory Nish made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Finlay Weaver in the 21st minute of play. Ivan Meikleham didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ronald McMichael went, in the 23rd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. Ivan Meikleham took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ian McAy, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rory Nish made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Finlay Weaver in the 30th minute of play. Roy Piper might have been able to make a better finish in the 31st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rory Nish. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Roy Piper ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 35th minute Irvin McCrindle shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ivan Meikleham saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Glasgow City's Ivan Meikleham played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alistair McHardy in the 38th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alistair McHardy in the 41st minute of play forced Glasgow City's goalkeeper Ivan Meikleham to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Glasgow City defense, Ian McAy kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ivan Meikleham. The Glasgow City fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ivan Meikleham should have stopped the shot. Edward McNeiledge received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. Ivan Meikleham tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-4.
The wind increased when Alistair McHardy made the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the match, Glasgow City's goal looked a bit too open when Alistair McHardy came free, but Ivan Meikleham reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 58th minute of the match, Alistair McHardy tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Ivan Meikleham saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. With 60 minutes on the clock, Lucas McImmey commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. After 60 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Glasgow City! Ian McAy sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 72nd minute of the match, Alistair McHardy tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Ivan Meikleham saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Ronald McMichael could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 75th minute of the match, but Ivan Meikleham made a huge save. After a rather tough play, Glasgow City's Alisdair Colquhoun got a free kick in the 76th minute. Glasgow City's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Alistair McHardy 79 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 0-6. Glasgow City's Ivan Meikleham played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ian McAy in the 83rd minute of play. In the 84th minute, Ian McAy reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Ivan Meikleham. The goal made the score 0-7. Raymond McFarquhar hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. The supporters of Balerno booed when Glasgow City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edmond McIock didn't get a good kick on the ball. 96 minutes into the match, Ronald McMichael had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ivan Meikleham. Glasgow City's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ronald McMichael was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-8. Ivan Meikleham showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ian McAy in the 99th minute of the match. When the final whistle sounded Balerno left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Glasgow City.
