An unexpectedly hard shot by Lloyd Appleby in the 3rd minute of play forced Lochgelly United's goalkeeper Eddie Ashmore to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In a very dangerous position, a player in Lochgelly United fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 5th minute. Penalty! In the 7th minute there was a penalty for Westfield AFC. Miles McAllan stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Eddie Ashmore. 0-1. After 16 played minutes Lochgelly United got a freekick which was hit by Iain McAskill. Thomas Howe fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eddie Ashmore having to interfere. If Innes McNuir had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Iain McAskill was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 31st minute. Lochgelly United's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. David McGilvernock made a fantastic save in the 33rd minute, when Innes McNuir sent off a good shot on target. After 38 minutes, Thomas Howe mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Westfield AFC and the Lochgelly United players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Westfield AFC's Thomas Howe got a free kick in the 38th minute. 44 minutes into the match, Westfield AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Iain McAskill came free, but David McGilvernock reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Thomas Howe stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Innes McNuir's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but David McGilvernock read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 53rd minute of play. 55 minutes into the game, Charles Kinnieson cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Eddie Ashmore was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Lochgelly United's Iain McAskill got a good chance for a goal in the 62nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Iain McAskill had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpected shot in the 66th minute by Charles Kinnieson got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Thomas Howe received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Eddie Ashmore tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 69th match minute, Lochgelly United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Derek McWalrick to maneuver through the defense. Eddie Ashmore made an important save on a dangerous shot by Charles Kinnieson in the 71st minute. In the 73rd minute, Thomas Howe reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Eddie Ashmore. The goal made the score 1-3. If Charles Kinnieson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eddie Ashmore made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Thomas Howe in the 82nd minute of play. Eddie Ashmore stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Thomas Howe's shot from short distance in the 91st minute. In the 94th match minute, Westfield AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Charles Kinnieson to maneuver through the defense. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Westfield AFC had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
