A hard shot 4 in the game by Ricky McFater from a close distance when the talented Ivan Meikleham managed to make a qualified save. Glasgow City's players were relieved. An unexpectedly hard shot by Shane Davenport in the 5th minute of play forced Glasgow City's goalkeeper Ivan Meikleham to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 7th minute, Shane Davenport hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Alisdair Colquhoun fell near the penalty area in the 8th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Glasgow City's protests and gave Alisdair Colquhoun a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Glasgow City's Alisdair Colquhoun got a free kick in the 8th minute. 9 minutes into the match, Glasgow City's goal looked a bit too open when Shane Davenport came free, but Ivan Meikleham reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 11th minute, Orkney's Shane Davenport dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. Alisdair Colquhoun might have been able to make a better finish in the 16th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Chris Fairbairn. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Alisdair Colquhoun ran back to his position shaking his head. Thanks to some nice moves Ricky McFater could shoot a difficult shot in the 19th minute, which Ivan Meikleham however easily saved by the left post. 20 minutes into the match, Glasgow City's goalkeeper Ivan Meikleham had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ricky McFater. Ivan Meikleham was a little too slow when Ricky McFater got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 20th minute. The score was now 2-0. Ivan Meikleham took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Shane Davenport, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Glasgow City getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Alisdair Colquhoun hit a great ball. With a little luck, Glasgow City's Ivan Meikleham got control of the ball when Edward Wilson tried to sneak it across the goal line. Glasgow City's Ivan Meikleham played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dominic Yule in the 30th minute of play. In the 33rd minute Roy Piper shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Chris Fairbairn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 36thth minute of the game Finlay Weaver who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Orkney's Chris Fairbairn was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Glasgow City's defense didn't have a chance, in the 37th minute, when Dominic Yule scored to the left of an out of position Ivan Meikleham, making the score, 3-0. In the 40th match minute, Glasgow City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Raymond McFarquhar to maneuver through the defense. Finlay Weaver kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. In the 43rd minute, Finlay Weaver fired away a free kick at goal. It was hit a tad too hard, and went over the crossbar. With an all-out effort, Orkney's Ivan Meikleham threw himself towards the right post 45 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Dominic Yule, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Edmond McIock was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 47 minutes into the match. After 47 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Glasgow City! After a beautiful solo achivement in the 50th minute, Nick McCay easily set the score to 4-0 through a well directed shot that entered the goal by the right post. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Shane Davenport made the kick off in the second half. Glasgow City's Alisdair Colquhoun quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Wal Beattie, made in the 58th minute of the game. In the 59th match minute, Glasgow City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Finlay Weaver to maneuver through the defense. After recieving a nice pass, Orkney's Nick McCay tried to score from far away in the 60th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Ivan Meikleham came out of the goal in the 65th minute to try and stop a shot by Orkney's Kevin Bell. But to his dismay, Kevin Bell quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Shane Davenport in the 72nd minute of play forced Glasgow City's goalkeeper Ivan Meikleham to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ivan Meikleham took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dominic Yule, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ivan Meikleham showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Shane Davenport, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. 78 minutes into the game, Dominic Yule cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 6-0. Ivan Meikleham was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The supporters of Glasgow City booed when Orkney was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Shane Davenport didn't get a good kick on the ball. 83 minutes into the match, Glasgow City's goal looked a bit too open when Shane Davenport came free, but Ivan Meikleham reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 84 minutes into the game, Edward Wilson cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 7-0. Ivan Meikleham was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Shane Davenport in the 87th minute of play forced Glasgow City's goalkeeper Ivan Meikleham to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 88 minutes into the match, Glasgow City's goal looked a bit too open when Ricky McFater came free, but Ivan Meikleham reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 90th minute Ricky McFater shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ivan Meikleham saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ricky McFater blasted a shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ivan Meikleham having to make a save. Ivan Meikleham showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edward Wilson in the 97th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ricky McFater in the 98th minute of play forced Glasgow City's goalkeeper Ivan Meikleham to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ivan Meikleham took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Shane Davenport, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Orkney's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
