Grangemouth Park
Spectators: 7485 (Terracing: 5625,
Seating: 1850, VIP seats: 10) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Gregor McPhadden made the kick off which started today's match. Ballygrant City's Aaron Young got a good chance for a goal in the 4th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Alan McGhie came up free with the goalie in the 8th minute, the DVA fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alan McGhie couldn't finish the play. In the 10th minute, Alan McGhie reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Neil Cassels. The goal made the score 1-0. Adrian Sime made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ryan Sherry in the 14th minute of play. If Ryan Sherry had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gregor McPhadden in the 21st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Neil Cassels prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Adrian Sime made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aaron Young in the 23rd minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ryan Sherry in the 26th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Adrian Sime saved DVA from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aaron Young in the 28th minute of play forced DVA's goalkeeper Adrian Sime to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Aaron Young recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 32nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Ryan Sherry came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the Ballygrant City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ryan Sherry couldn't finish the play. When the match had gone on for 35 minutes, Aaron Young put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Adrian Sime. In the 42nd minute Aaron Young shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Adrian Sime saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 44th match minute, Ballygrant City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aaron Young to maneuver through the defense. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Aaron Young stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd play minute Ryan Sherry came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Adrian Sime. 1-2. Adrian Sime was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Ryan Sherry showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-3 in the 56 minute of play. Alan McGhie struck a weak shot in the 65th minute. Neil Cassels didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for DVA. In the 70th minute Aaron Young shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Adrian Sime saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Alan McGhie's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Neil Cassels was relentless in the 75th minute of the game. Neil Cassels stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Alan McGhie's shot from short distance in the 77th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aaron Young in the 79th minute of play forced DVA's goalkeeper Adrian Sime to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 83 minutes into the match, Ballygrant City's goal looked a bit too open when Gregor McPhadden came free, but Neil Cassels reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ryan Sherry recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 89th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Aaron Young sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Ryan Sherry came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Ballygrant City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ryan Sherry couldn't finish the play. Aaron Young fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adrian Sime having to interfere. The DVA fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ballygrant City were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
