Evan Esson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Simon Bowmaker in the 9th minute of play. Steven McGrowther sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Newcastleton FC's Fraser Milne got a free kick in the 14th minute. Steven McGrowther sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 23rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Newcastleton FC's goalkeeper Evan Esson, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Evan Esson came out of the goal in the 26th minute to try and stop a shot by Helensburgh FC's Miles McKinnell. But to his dismay, Miles McKinnell quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Newcastleton FC's Evan Esson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Miles McKinnell in the 29th minute of play. If Miles McKinnell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 36th minute, Steven McGrowther ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Evan Esson was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. 43 minutes into the match, Helensburgh FC's Steven McGrowther sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Evan Esson narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 46th minute, Steven McGrowther managed to get in a good position for a shot. Helensburgh FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Steven McGrowther was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Evan Esson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The Newcastleton FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Helensburgh FC were winning 0-2.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Steven McGrowther made a kick off. Steven McGrowther received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Evan Esson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 54 minutes into the match, Helensburgh FC's Miles McKinnell sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Evan Esson narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Miles McKinnell got free with Evan Esson in the 57th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 58th minute, Fraser Milne hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Miles McKinnell fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Evan Esson having to interfere. In the 60th match minute, Newcastleton FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fraser Milne to maneuver through the defense. When Fraser Milne fell near the penalty area in the 64th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Newcastleton FC's protests and gave Fraser Milne a yellow card for diving instead. In the 66th match minute, Newcastleton FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fraser Milne to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 69 minutes, Connor McIlzegowie managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Helensburgh FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Connor McIlzegowie was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Steven McGrowther had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Newcastleton FC's Evan Esson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Connor McIlzegowie in the 72nd minute of play. The supporters of Helensburgh FC booed when Newcastleton FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fraser Milne didn't get a good kick on the ball. Helensburgh FC's Timmy Armour managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Billy Crum in the 86 minute of the game. An unexpected shot in the 87th minute by Timmy Armour got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 90th minute, Connor McIlzegowie managed to get in a good position for a shot. Helensburgh FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Connor McIlzegowie was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Evan Esson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Evan Esson didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 92nd minute, which inside left pole to 0-3. In the 96th match minute, Helensburgh FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ronald Alcock to maneuver through the defense. When the final whistle sounded Helensburgh FC left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Newcastleton FC.
