Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Guy Hutcheson made the kick off and thus started the match. Frankie Baldwin was out of position in the 3 minute of play, and Miles McKinnell capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Miles McKinnell really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. In the 6th minute, Helensburgh FC's Steven McGrowther dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. Alistair McGeachie made in the 12th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Helensburgh FC's Ronald Alcock. Steven McGrowther received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Frankie Baldwin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Miles McKinnell kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. In the 18th minute, Steven McGrowther made a precise shot to the right of Frankie Baldwin. Peterculter's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. 23 minutes had been played when some careless play by Peterculter's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Steven McGrowther was slow to take the kick. During this time Helensburgh FC's players had a chance to rest. In the 23rd minute Ken Jameson suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. It was a well-played corner which Miles McKinnell managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Steven McGrowther recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 34th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 36 minutes into the match, Peterculter's goal looked a bit too open when Miles McKinnell came free, but Frankie Baldwin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 37 minutes in the game, Steven McGrowther fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Frankie Baldwin having to interfere. In the 39th minute, Miles McKinnell got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 40th minute, Steven McGrowther fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Peterculter's defense didn't have a chance, in the 44th minute, when Rick Donleavy scored to the left of an out of position Frankie Baldwin, making the score, 5-0. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 5-0.
If Steven McGrowther had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 55 minutes, Steven McGrowther managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Helensburgh FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Steven McGrowther was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 56 minutes into the match, Helensburgh FC's Miles McKinnell sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Frankie Baldwin narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Steven McGrowther had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Peterculter's zone, Steven McGrowther stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Frankie Baldwin came out of the goal and Steven McGrowther tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Frankie Baldwin came out of the goal in the 60th minute to try and stop a shot by Helensburgh FC's Ronald Alcock. But to his dismay, Ronald Alcock quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 6-0. If Simon Bowmaker had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Steven McGrowther received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Frankie Baldwin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Steven McGrowther fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Frankie Baldwin having to interfere. Steven McGrowther struck a weak shot in the 75th minute. Frankie Baldwin didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Helensburgh FC. In the 81st minute, Guy Hutcheson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Steven McGrowther received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Frankie Baldwin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 7-0 became the score in the 86th minute when Steven McGrowther elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Steven McGrowther sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Steven McGrowther fell near the penalty area in the 94th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Helensburgh FC's protests and gave Steven McGrowther a yellow card for diving instead. Frankie Baldwin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Steven McGrowther in the 96th minute of play. When Arthur McKieson came up free with the goalie in the 97th minute, the Peterculter fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Arthur McKieson couldn't finish the play. Helensburgh FC walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
