The supporters of Helensburgh FC booed when Lochgelly City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Reece Knox didn't get a good kick on the ball. Simon Bowmaker fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Terence Watson having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 15th minute, Miles McKinnell managed to get in a good position for a shot. Helensburgh FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Miles McKinnell was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Terence Watson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Simon Bowmaker received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Terence Watson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Steven McGrowther's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Terence Watson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 23rd minute of play. After some careless play in the Lochgelly City defense, Steven McGrowther kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Terence Watson. The Lochgelly City fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Terence Watson should have stopped the shot. Terence Watson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Miles McKinnell in the 28th minute of play. Terence Watson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Steven McGrowther, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. After 37 minutes of play, Helensburgh FC's Miles McKinnell made it 0-5 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Terence Watson was left in no man's land by his defense there! 41 minutes into the match, Helensburgh FC's Steven McGrowther sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Terence Watson narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Lochgelly City's Terence Watson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Simon Bowmaker in the 44th minute of play. Connor McIlzegowie struck a weak shot in the 47th minute. Terence Watson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Helensburgh FC. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-5.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Nick McKenzie was the one to do the kick off. Terence Watson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Steven McGrowther, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Connor McIlzegowie fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Terence Watson having to interfere. Steven McGrowther sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Nick McKenzie kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. Helensburgh FC's Rick Donleavy got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Steven McGrowther had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Connor McIlzegowie sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 65 minutes into the match, Steven McGrowther dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Terence Watson, 0-6. In the 69th minute, Helensburgh FC's Rick Donleavy dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-7. Terence Watson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Steven McGrowther, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With an all-out effort, Helensburgh FC's Terence Watson threw himself towards the right post 75 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Steven McGrowther, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. If Miles McKinnell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 80th minute, Kieran Small hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 82 minutes, Steven McGrowther managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Helensburgh FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Steven McGrowther was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Helensburgh FC's attentive Timmy Armour managed to snatch the ball when Finlay McQuistan made a throw-in in the 86th minute of the game. Timmy Armour sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Terence Watson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Steven McGrowther in the 88th minute of play. Steven McGrowther struck a weak shot in the 90th minute. Terence Watson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Helensburgh FC. When Matthew Linklater fell near the penalty area in the 91st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Lochgelly City's protests and gave Matthew Linklater a yellow card for diving instead. After 91 played minutes Lochgelly City got a freekick which was hit by Matthew Linklater. In the 92nd minute Rick Donleavy shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Terence Watson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Terence Watson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Steven McGrowther in the 93rd minute of play. David Beath kicked well hit freekick during the 96th minute of the match. Helensburgh FC played a much better game than Lochgelly City and deserved their victory. The Lochgelly City players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
