Stewart Tarrill might have been able to make a better finish in the 12th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Benjamin McNab. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Stewart Tarrill ran back to his position shaking his head. Craig Gorrie received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Benjamin McNab tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Garve getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Frankie Denoon hit a great ball. Hugh Crossley recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 23 minutes into the match, Ballygrant's goalkeeper Roddie McSimon had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rob Limont. An unexpectedly hard shot by Frankie Denoon in the 25th minute of play forced Ballygrant's goalkeeper Roddie McSimon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Ballygrant's Edward McDaniell got a free kick in the 26th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Garve's Liam McCluskie slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Roddie McSimon. That made the score 2-0 after 33 minutes of play. Roddie McSimon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gavin McKelloch in the 36th minute of the match. 41 minutes into the match, Ballygrant's goalkeeper Roddie McSimon had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rob Limont. Stewart Tarrill sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

51 minutes into the match, Ballygrant's goal looked a bit too open when Liam McCluskie came free, but Roddie McSimon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, Garve's Benjamin McNab got control of the ball when Stewart Tarrill tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Stewart Tarrill came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the Ballygrant fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Stewart Tarrill couldn't finish the play. Roddie McSimon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rob Limont, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Hugh Crossley could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 66th minute of the match, but Benjamin McNab made a huge save. Ballygrant's Douglas McLiver managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Graham Pinkerton in the 68 minute of the game. Ballygrant's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Garve had won, even though Ballygrant had held more of the ball.
