Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gavin McKelloch in the 14th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck John McIlduy prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Dougal McKellaig received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Newcastleton's James McBean got a good chance for a goal in the 43rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After the first half Newcastleton were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

But to his dismay, Dougal McKellaig quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. In the 85th match minute, Garve was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Liam McCluskie to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 86 minutes, Dougal McKellaig managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Newcastleton's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dougal McKellaig was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Newcastleton's John McIlduy played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rob Limont in the 89th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rob Limont in the 94th minute of play forced Newcastleton's goalkeeper John McIlduy to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dougal McKellaig fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benjamin McNab having to interfere. The Garve fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Newcastleton were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
