The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 12 minutes into the game, Luke McKellar cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. John McIlduy was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. A collision led to AC Holmavik getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Marc Davidson hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, AC Holmavik's Ewan Gilbert got a free kick in the 26th minute. Newcastleton's Raymond Elliott was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Stevie Low in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In a very dangerous position, a player in AC Holmavik fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 30th minute. Penalty! When the match had been going on for 31 minutes, Newcastleton's Raymond Elliott got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Stevie Low. Newcastleton's James McBean got a good chance for a goal in the 34th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. James McBean sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 38th minute, Raymond Elliott managed to get in a good position for a shot. Newcastleton's supporters rose to their feet, but Raymond Elliott was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Stevie Low breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 39 played minutes James McBean rounded AC Holmavik's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 2-1. After 46 played minutes Newcastleton got a freekick which was hit by Rory Marshall.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Luke McKellar was the one to do the kick off. Sam McTaggart could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 52nd minute of the match, but John McIlduy made a huge save. AC Holmavik's Stevie Low played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dougal McKellaig in the 65th minute of play. James McBean received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Stevie Low tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 67 played minutes Newcastleton got a freekick which was hit by Oliver Adams. Sam McTaggart struck a weak shot in the 69th minute. John McIlduy didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for AC Holmavik. Through an outstanding action, after 72 minutes, John McIlduy successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 73rd minute, Marc Davidson left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The AC Holmavik fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2. With a couple of smart ball manuevers James McBean in the 87th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Stevie Low saved AC Holmavik from getting behind. Stevie Low showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from James McBean in the 88th minute of the match. In the 93rd minute, Sam McTaggart reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of John McIlduy. The goal made the score 2-3.
