Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Ballygrant's Stewart Tarrill started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 9th minute, Ivan McFadzean hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Alisdair McCormick hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. Danny Nixon hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. Stewart Tarrill could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 19th minute of the match, but Richard Fostar made a huge save. Ballygrant's Roddie McSimon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alan McNiter in the 23rd minute of play. In the 34th minute Alan McNiter shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Roddie McSimon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ballygrant's Roddie McSimon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alan McNiter in the 38th minute of play. Craig Gorrie struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Richard Fostar didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ballygrant. 47 minutes into the match, Stonehaven United's goal looked a bit too open when Stewart Tarrill came free, but Richard Fostar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Alan McNiter made a kick off. Craig Gorrie received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Richard Fostar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Craig Gorrie sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. A long shot from Will Dyce in the 70th minute of play was well struck, but Roddie McSimon made a really good save at the right post. Richard Fostar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Craig Gorrie, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. If Stewart Tarrill had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alisdair McCormick's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Roddie McSimon firmly grabbed it by the left post. After a defensive mix-up in Stonehaven United's zone, Craig Gorrie stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Richard Fostar came out of the goal and Craig Gorrie tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Stonehaven United's Richard Fostar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Stewart Tarrill in the 91st minute of play. The supporters of Ballygrant booed when Stonehaven United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alisdair McCormick didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 95th minute, Stewart Tarrill made a precise shot to the right of Richard Fostar. Stonehaven United's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1.
