When Edmond McInnes fell near the penalty area in the 8th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored St.Mirren's protests and gave Edmond McInnes a yellow card for diving instead. Edmond McInnes kicked well hit freekick during the 8th minute of the match. Walter Wylie made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gavin McKelloch in the 12th minute of play. Walter Wylie showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Liam McCluskie in the 15th minute of the match. Norman Boyle's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Benjamin McNab read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 21st minute of play. In the 28th minute, St.Mirren's Stephen Barnfather seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Stephen Barnfather the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of St.Mirren protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Stephen Barnfather had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. A collision led to St.Mirren getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Stephen Barnfather hit a great ball. In the 35th minute, Gavin McKelloch hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

In the 52nd match minute, Garve was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kevin McChruiter to maneuver through the defense. When the match clock showed 58 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Matthew Wilkie sped through Garve's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Benjamin McNab. Benjamin McNab didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Matthew Wilkie went, in the 60th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. After 63 played minutes St.Mirren got a freekick which was hit by Norman Boyle. Walter Wylie showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Liam McCluskie in the 67th minute of the match. 71 minutes into the match, Matthew Wilkie notched a goal, 3-1, to the right of Garve's Benjamin McNab. Benjamin McNab was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Frankie Denoon kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. After 90 minutes, Kevin McChruiter mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Garve and the St.Mirren players grew even worse after the yellow card. St.Mirren's Matthew Wilkie got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. St.Mirren's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
