The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 5 minutes of play, Wick's Lloyd Lambie made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 13th match minute, Wick was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lloyd Lambie to maneuver through the defense. Stephen McCartair struck a weak shot in the 16th minute. John McIlduy didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Wick. Newcastleton's John McIlduy played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lloyd Lambie in the 17th minute of play. If Dougal McKellaig had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. John McIlduy didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Stephen McCartair went, in the 25th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. 28 minutes into the match, Newcastleton's goalkeeper John McIlduy had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Stephen McCartair. John McIlduy showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kenneth Beadle in the 37th minute of the match. Ronnie Frew showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dougal McKellaig in the 39th minute of the match. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Dougal McKellaig to make the kick off. Wick's Ronnie Frew played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by James McBean in the 56th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kenneth Beadle in the 58th minute of play forced Newcastleton's goalkeeper John McIlduy to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The attack was good, but when Dougal McKellaig in the 60th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. Newcastleton's John McIlduy played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lloyd Lambie in the 62nd minute of play. Stephen McCartair fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without John McIlduy having to interfere. With his leg Ronnie Frew managed to avoid a goal in the 67thth minute, when Newcastleton's Dougal McKellaig fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Ronnie Frew made a fantastic save in the 69th minute, when Dougal McKellaig sent off a good shot on target. Lloyd Lambie scored 3-0 in the 70th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of John McIlduy, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Davie Baptist kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. James McBean fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ronnie Frew having to interfere. Paddy Dean kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. Newcastleton's John McIlduy played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by John Hobson in the 79th minute of play. John McIlduy made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lloyd Lambie in the 81st minute of play. Newcastleton's Dougal McKellaig got a good chance for a goal in the 87th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Wick's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
