Spectators: 8457 (Terracing: 6344, Seating: 1944, VIP seats: 169) St.Mirren's attentive Edward Begg managed to snatch the ball when Charles Currie made a throw-in in the 3rd minute of the game. Walter Wylie showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from James McBean, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. Matthew Wilkie recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 10th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Norman Boyle received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. John McIlduy tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, Newcastleton's John McIlduy got control of the ball when Matthew Wilkie tried to sneak it across the goal line. Walter Wylie took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dougal McKellaig, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Newcastleton booed when St.Mirren was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Conor McEarachar didn't get a good kick on the ball. Stephen Barnfather hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. In the 34th minute, Charles Currie hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Walter Wylie showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from James McBean in the 40th minute of the match. St.Mirren's Walter Wylie played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by James McBean in the 44th minute of play. Walter Wylie came out of the goal in the 46th minute to try and stop a shot by Newcastleton's James McBean. But to his dismay, James McBean quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Dougal McKellaig to strike the kick off in the second half. The supporters of St.Mirren booed when Newcastleton was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. James McBean didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dougal Porter kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. In the 64th minute Matthew Wilkie shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but John McIlduy saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 68 minutes had been played when some careless play by Newcastleton's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Stephen Barnfather was slow to take the kick. During this time St.Mirren's players had a chance to rest. Stephen Barnfather made a great header on St.Mirren's corner, it was just that Newcastleton's John McIlduy managed to reach the ball for a save. John McIlduy didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Matthew Wilkie went, in the 77th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. Walter Wylie showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from James McBean, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. Dougal McKellaig could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 83rd minute of the match, but Walter Wylie made a huge save. St.Mirren's Walter Wylie played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Raymond Elliott in the 84th minute of play. Matthew Wilkie took the ball and in the 90 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised John McIlduy. John McIlduy dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Matthew Wilkie in the 93rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck John McIlduy prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When the referee blew the final whistle, St.Mirren could leave the field as winners, despite Newcastleton having more of the ball for most of the match.
