Terence Bowers recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 6th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 16 minutes into the game, Montrose FC's Blair Georgeson nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Chris Mark made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Declan McLardy took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Greg McConochie, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Highland Warriors getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Alan Cunningham hit a great ball. Blair Georgeson struck a weak shot in the 31st minute. Chris Mark didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Montrose FC. In the 37th minute, Terence Bowers got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Blair Georgeson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Chris Mark tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Highland Warriors's Greg McConochie got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 45 played minutes Montrose FC got a freekick which was hit by Davie McGilroy. In the 46th minute Greg McConochie shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Declan McLardy saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Terence Bowers to strike the kick off in the second half. Terence Bowers fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Chris Mark having to interfere. Greg McConochie recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 58th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 62 minutes into the match, Davie McGilroy had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Chris Mark. Highland Warriors's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Davie McGilroy was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. After some fancy dribbling in the 66th minute, Terence Bowers managed to get in a good position for a shot. Montrose FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Terence Bowers was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Chris Mark breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Highland Warriors's Greg McConochie got a good chance for a goal in the 77th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. During the 78th minute of the match Davie McGilroy completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Davie McGilroy a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Greg McConochie received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Declan McLardy tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Fraser Laidlaw took the ball and in the 82 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Chris Mark. Chris Mark dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. When Blair Georgeson, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 88 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Chris Mark was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. In the 90th minute, Alan Cunningham hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Fraser Laidlaw kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. The Montrose FC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
