Ronan McCune made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Douglas Burk in the 16th minute of play. Cromarty's Malcolm Ingram played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Terence McCamie in the 17th minute of play. Douglas Burk hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nick McIldowie in the 35th minute of play forced Ellon's goalkeeper Ronan McCune to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Cromarty's Connor McLardy got a free kick in the 37th minute. In the 38th minute, one of Cromarty:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Cromarty. When the match had been going on for 39 minutes, Ellon's Alexander Moodie got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Malcolm Ingram. The crowd rose to their feet as Terence McCamie kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Malcolm Ingram. That made the score 3-1 in the 44 minute of play. Ronan McCune showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Connor McLardy, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Douglas Burk was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Terence McCamie ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Malcolm Ingram was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Terence McCamie in the 56th minute of play forced Cromarty's goalkeeper Malcolm Ingram to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Malcolm Ingram made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Terence McCamie in the 63rd minute of play. In the 70th minute, Greig Tarrill hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 73rd minute, Cromarty's Nick McIldowie dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 4-2. The supporters of Cromarty booed when Ellon was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Patrick McLea didn't get a good kick on the ball. 91 minutes into the match, Ellon's goalkeeper Ronan McCune had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nick McIldowie. Ellon's Ronan McCune played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Douglas Burk in the 96th minute of play. For all the effort they put into the match, the Cromarty players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Ellon.
