The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Greg McConochie received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 3rd minute. Jimmy McCansh tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jimmy McCansh showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Greg McConochie in the 4th minute of the match. Tyler Fox kicked well hit freekick during the 5th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Inverness AFC's Ivan McCrain got a free kick in the 13th minute. Chris Mark showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Charles Inches, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Greg McConochie received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Jimmy McCansh tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 23 minutes into the match, Charles Inches had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Chris Mark. Highland Warriors's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Charles Inches was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Elliot Bates fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Chris Mark having to interfere. Jimmy McCansh made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Greg McConochie in the 31st minute of play. 33 minutes into the match, Highland Warriors's goal looked a bit too open when Elliot Bates came free, but Chris Mark reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Greg McConochie sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 41st minute Greg McConochie shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jimmy McCansh saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Highland Warriors players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Inverness AFC were winning 0-1.

Greg McConochie fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jimmy McCansh having to interfere. If Declan Gallie had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Greg McConochie in the 61st minute of play forced Inverness AFC's goalkeeper Jimmy McCansh to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Elliot Bates received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Chris Mark tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 65 minutes, Elliot Bates managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Inverness AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Elliot Bates was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Chris Mark made an important save on a dangerous shot by Charles Inches in the 67th minute. Chris Mark showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Charles Inches, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. Jimmy McCansh took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Greg McConochie, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Munro Jameson hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. After some careless play in the Highland Warriors defense, Elliot Bates kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Chris Mark. The Highland Warriors fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Chris Mark should have stopped the shot. After a defensive mix-up in Highland Warriors's zone, Elliot Bates stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Chris Mark came out of the goal and Elliot Bates tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Elliot Bates recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 92nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Although Highland Warriors had been in control for most of the match, Inverness AFC still came away with the win.
