Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Avoch's Rick McEachern started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Joshua Alcorn kicked well hit freekick during the 3rd minute of the match. In the 6th match minute, Ellon was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rupert McIlwhom to maneuver through the defense. In the 7th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ellon's goalkeeper Ronan McCune, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Ronan McCune showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kenny Wharrie in the 10th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Norman McComas in the 11th minute of play forced Ellon's goalkeeper Ronan McCune to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 17th minute Norman McComas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ronan McCune saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ronan McCune didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Rick McEachern went, in the 21st minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. With a little luck, Ellon's Ronan McCune got control of the ball when Rick McEachern tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some careless play in the Avoch defense, Grant McBurie kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sean Elliott. The Avoch fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sean Elliott should have stopped the shot. A collision led to Ellon getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Rupert McIlwhom hit a great ball. After 35 played minutes Avoch got a freekick which was hit by Kenny Wharrie. With a little luck, Ellon's Ronan McCune got control of the ball when Rick McEachern tried to sneak it across the goal line. 38 minutes into the match, Ellon's goal looked a bit too open when Norman McComas came free, but Ronan McCune reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Darius Robson was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 40 minutes into the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 39th minute of the game. One of Ellon:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Avoch:s goal. When the match had been going on for 42 minutes, Avoch's Mike Russell got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Ronan McCune.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Patrick McLea was the one to do the kick off. After some careless play in the Ellon defense, Rick McEachern kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ronan McCune. The Ellon fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ronan McCune should have stopped the shot. The audience thought a goal was coming when Patrick McLea got free with Sean Elliott in the 63rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 73rd minute, Mike Russell got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rick McEachern in the 77th minute of play forced Ellon's goalkeeper Ronan McCune to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 79th minute, Rick McEachern managed to get in a good position for a shot. Avoch's supporters rose to their feet, but Rick McEachern was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ronan McCune breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Ellon getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Rupert McIlwhom hit a great ball. Sean Elliott showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Terence McCamie in the 82nd minute of the match. In the 83rd minute, Rick McEachern hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 89 minutes of play, Avoch's Rick McEachern made it 4-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ronan McCune was left in no man's land by his defense there! Ronan McCune made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kenny Wharrie in the 95th minute of play. Ronan McCune showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Norman McComas in the 96th minute of the match.
