Cromarty's Douglas Burk got a good chance for a goal in the 5th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 7 minutes, Connor McLardy managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cromarty's supporters crossed their fingers, but Connor McLardy was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Montrose FC's Fraser Laidlaw got a free kick in the 10th minute. Owen McSween sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 16th minute Terence Bowers shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Malcolm Ingram saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Malcolm Ingram made an important save on a dangerous shot by Blair Georgeson in the 17th minute. The supporters of Montrose FC booed when Cromarty was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adam McBeolain didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 23rd match minute, Montrose FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Davie McGilroy to maneuver through the defense. Cromarty's Malcolm Ingram played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Blair Georgeson in the 28th minute of play. In the 45th minute, Montrose FC's David McNeilage ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Malcolm Ingram. Malcolm Ingram yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Terence Bowers to strike the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Montrose FC getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Terence Bowers hit a great ball. Blair Georgeson took the ball and in the 55 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Malcolm Ingram. Malcolm Ingram dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0. Owen McSween kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. After having played for 59 minutes, Douglas Burk managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cromarty's supporters crossed their fingers, but Douglas Burk was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 61st match minute, Montrose FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fraser Laidlaw to maneuver through the defense. Davie McGilroy got his second yellow card in the match during the 68th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Davie McGilroy kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rory McMurrich during the 91st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 91st match minute, Montrose FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rory McMurrich to maneuver through the defense. Malcolm Ingram stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Blair Georgeson's shot from short distance in the 94th minute.
