Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Greg McConochie made the kick off which started today's match. If Greg McConochie had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by William McAlduie during the 8th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Ellon's Shane McCorkill was substituted for Darius Robson. After a defensive mix-up in Highland Warriors's zone, Grant McBurie stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Chris Mark came out of the goal and Grant McBurie tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 18th match minute, Highland Warriors was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by William McAlduie to maneuver through the defense. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Eddie McGaw during the 26th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 39th minute Declan Gallie shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ronan McCune saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Alexander Moodie came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the Ellon fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alexander Moodie couldn't finish the play. Grant McBurie's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Chris Mark read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 44th minute of play. In the 45thth minute of the game Grant McBurie who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Highland Warriors's Chris Mark was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Patrick McLea to make the kick off. Alan Cunningham hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. Patrick McLea fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Chris Mark having to interfere. In the 59th minute, Jeremy McGlasrich hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 59th minute Alexander Moodie shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Chris Mark saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Highland Warriors getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. William McAlduie hit a great ball. When Greg McConochie in the 63rd play minute got the chance to kick a hard shot on goal from short distance neither the defense or Ronan McCune kept up with the ball and suddenly the score was 1-1 when the ball slipped into goal inside the left pole. Grant McBurie sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Declan Gallie got free with Ronan McCune in the 70th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Greg McConochie in the 72nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ronan McCune prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Grant McBurie recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 76th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Highland Warriors's William McAlduie got his second yellow card of the match in the 78th minute. The referee ordered William McAlduie off the ground. In the 78th minute, William McAlduie hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Patrick McLea struck a weak shot in the 79th minute. Chris Mark didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ellon. Chris Mark showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Patrick McLea, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. Chris Mark showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alexander Moodie in the 84th minute of the match. Greg McConochie's late challenge caught a Ellon's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Greg McConochie helped the player get up and apologised. After 85 played minutes Highland Warriors got a freekick which was hit by Greg McConochie. Ellon's Grant McBurie got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. During the 89th minute of the match Greg McConochie completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Greg McConochie a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. After a rather tough play, Highland Warriors's Greg McConochie got a free kick in the 89th minute. Patrick McLea sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Highland Warriors getting a freekick after 98 minutes play. Alan Cunningham hit a great ball. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Ellon players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
