Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Avoch's Rick McEachern started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Rick McEachern sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Fraser Cariston kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. Wally Crum showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Norman McComas in the 19th minute of the match. Rick McEachern received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Wally Crum tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Avoch's Kenny Wharrie in the 25th minute got a chance for a shot 25th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Kilbirnie's goalie prevented a goal. 25 minutes into the game, Barry McClure was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Kilbirnie's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Avoch the free kick. Avoch made a substitution. Nick Hobson replaced Simon McBrieve. After a rather tough play, Kilbirnie's Barry McClure got a free kick in the 27th minute. Wally Crum made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kenny Wharrie in the 27th minute of play. A collision led to Kilbirnie getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Troy McKellachie hit a great ball. Avoch were awarded a corner in the 39th minute after Kilbirnie's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Nick Hobson took the corner. Sean Elliott showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Troy McKellachie, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. 46 minutes into the match, Avoch's goal looked a bit too open when Willie McGruer came free, but Sean Elliott reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Willie McGruer made a kick off. 51 minutes into the game, Avoch's Nick Hobson nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Wally Crum made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. Avoch's defense didn't have a chance, in the 55th minute, when Barry McClure scored to the left of an out of position Sean Elliott, making the score, 2-1. 60 minutes into the game, Nick Hobson cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Wally Crum was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Shane Smith hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. Troy McKellachie hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. Willie McGruer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Wally Crum showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rick McEachern in the 78th minute of the match. Sean Elliott made a fantastic save in the 81st minute, when Fraser Cariston sent off a good shot on target. Fraser Cariston might have been able to make a better finish in the 82nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sean Elliott. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Fraser Cariston ran back to his position shaking his head. Sean Elliott made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Willie McGruer in the 84th minute of play. Kenny Wharrie took the ball and in the 86 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Wally Crum. Wally Crum dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-1. After a rather tough play, Avoch's Phil McTary got a free kick in the 91st minute. Kilbirnie's Calum Hunter shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 92nd minute of play. The shot was stopped by Sean Elliott but with some difficulty. With a little luck, Avoch's Sean Elliott got control of the ball when Fraser Cariston tried to sneak it across the goal line. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Avoch had played much better football throughout.
