Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Les McCaa started the match with the kick off. Ben Buchan kicked well hit freekick during the 2nd minute of the match. When Glasgow Rangers FC's Barry Gilbert in the 6th minute got a chance for a shot 6th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Stromness's goalie prevented a goal. After a rather tough play, Stromness's Andy Lennie got a free kick in the 7th minute. In the 8th match minute, Glasgow Rangers FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rick Connor to maneuver through the defense. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Phillip McAndrew during the 12th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 12th minute, Phillip McAndrew hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 14 minutes into the game, Barry Gilbert cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Stephen Lamont was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 20th minute, Lloyd McHutcheon got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Guy McIan in the 21st minute of play forced Stromness's goalkeeper Stephen Lamont to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Stephen Lamont made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Guy McIan in the 25th minute of play. After 27 minutes, Les McCaa mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Stromness and the Glasgow Rangers FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Stromness's Les McCaa got a free kick in the 27th minute. Stephen Lamont didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Barry Gilbert went, in the 31st minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. A collision led to Stromness getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Henry Denoon hit a great ball. In the 34th minute of the match Lloyd McHutcheon shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Stephen Lamont showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. With an all-out effort, Stromness's Arthur Barns threw himself towards the right post 39 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Archie Small, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The referee felt a red card was in order, 41 minutes into the game, when Henry Denoon put in a rough tackle. Archie Small kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. Guy McIan struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Stephen Lamont didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Glasgow Rangers FC. After 46 minutes, Ben Buchan mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Glasgow Rangers FC and the Stromness players grew even worse after the yellow card. Ben Buchan hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

Guy McIan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 54th minute of the match, but Stephen Lamont made a huge save. In the 58th minute Barry Gilbert shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stephen Lamont saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Stromness's Stephen Lamont played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ben Buchan in the 61st minute of play. Stromness's Stephen Lamont proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 64th minute of the match, managed to save Stromness from getting a goal against them. Stephen Lamont came out of the goal in the 66th minute to try and stop a shot by Glasgow Rangers FC's Barry Gilbert. But to his dismay, Barry Gilbert quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. Stephen Lamont made an important save on a dangerous shot by Guy McIan in the 72nd minute. After a rather tough play, Glasgow Rangers FC's Nicholas Aspin got a free kick in the 74th minute. Stromness's Archie Small got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 84 minutes into the game, Nicholas Aspin threw the ball into play from the sideline. Stromness's Stuart Laidlaw quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Stephen Lamont made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ben Buchan in the 86th minute. After 89 minutes Glasgow Rangers FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Les McCaa who took care of the corner kick. Stephen Lamont made a fantastic save in the 92nd minute, when Ben Buchan sent off a good shot on target. Guy McIan struck a weak shot in the 94th minute. Stephen Lamont didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Glasgow Rangers FC. Glasgow Rangers FC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
