Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Martin Johnstone got the match started through his kick off. If Les McCaa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 2nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Lochgelly's Arthur Aird got a free kick in the 4th minute. Les McCaa took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 5th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Shaun Porter. Lochgelly's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Daniel Colquhoun received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Stephen Lamont tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Les McCaa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 17 minutes into the match, Stromness's goalkeeper Stephen Lamont had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Colquhoun. Archie Small kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Martin Johnstone got free with Stephen Lamont in the 24th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 24 minutes, Brandon Gunn mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Stromness and the Lochgelly players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 25th match minute, Stromness was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Brandon Gunn to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Stromness booed when Lochgelly was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aaron Porter didn't get a good kick on the ball. Les McCaa, 38 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. In the 40th match minute, Stromness was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Scott Symon to maneuver through the defense. In the 44th minute, Martin Johnstone got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.
Lochgelly's Will McKillop got a good chance for a goal in the 62nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Archie Small fell near the penalty area in the 63rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Stromness's protests and gave Archie Small a yellow card for diving instead. After 63 played minutes Stromness got a freekick which was hit by Archie Small. Brandon Gunn made in the 65th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Les McCaa immediately put the ball in play. A sloppy throw-in by Phillip Kenneth in the 70th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Stromness's Archie Small. In the 80th minute, Martin Johnstone got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The Stromness supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Stromness would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
