Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Greg Gowan started the match with the kick off. After a rather tough play, Stromness's Archie Small got a free kick in the 5th minute. Les McCaa struck a weak shot in the 15th minute. Ian McCabe didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Stromness. Stephen Lamont took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Davie McCaig, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Stephen Lamont showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Greg Gowan in the 21st minute of the match. Henry Denoon hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. Stephen Lamont made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Davie McCaig in the 29th minute of play. Ian McCabe made an important save on a dangerous shot by Les McCaa in the 33rd minute. Oliver Borthwick charged in rather forcefully in the 37th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Oliver Borthwick the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, ARBROATH FC's Oliver Borthwick got a free kick in the 37th minute. Greg Gowan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stephen Lamont having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in ARBROATH FC's zone, Les McCaa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ian McCabe came out of the goal and Les McCaa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Les McCaa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Ian McCabe tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ian McCabe made a fantastic save in the 47th minute, when Les McCaa sent off a good shot on target. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Les McCaa to strike the kick off in the second half. Ian McCabe made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Les McCaa in the 52nd minute of play. A collision led to ARBROATH FC getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Tyler McGilroy hit a great ball. Les McCaa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Greg Gowan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Stephen Lamont tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Stromness's Stephen Lamont proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 60th minute of the match, managed to save Stromness from getting a goal against them. Stromness's Henry Denoon quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Adam Hamilton, made in the 61st minute of the game. In the 64th minute, Les McCaa ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ian McCabe was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. In the 73rd minute, Henry Denoon hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Stephen Lamont showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Greg Gowan, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. After 82 minutes of play ARBROATH FC's Oliver Borthwick was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After having played for 94 minutes, Davie McCaig managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. ARBROATH FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Davie McCaig was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Stromness fully deserved thier win.
