A collision led to Perth getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Cameron Gilfillan hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Iona's Taylor Coulson got a free kick in the 32nd minute. In the 37th minute, Simon Duffy fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Richard Frizell, passed just outside the right post. When Hamish Murdoson fell near the penalty area in the 46th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Iona's protests and gave Hamish Murdoson a yellow card for diving instead. In the 46th match minute, Iona was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hamish Murdoson to maneuver through the defense.

Perth were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Iona to leave the ground with a draw.
