If Wágner Guedes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Nicky McEwan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Duda Saldanha in the 7th minute of the match. Muir United's Nicky McEwan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wágner Guedes in the 8th minute of play. Ricky Lean's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nicky McEwan read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 10th minute of play. Nicky McEwan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wally McKieson, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. Nicky McEwan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wágner Guedes in the 15th minute of play. 18 minutes into the match, Muir United's goal looked a bit too open when Duda Saldanha came free, but Nicky McEwan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 20 minutes into the game, Scotland's Duda Saldanha nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Nicky McEwan made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. The supporters of Muir United booed when Scotland was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Iain McOwen didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee felt a red card was in order, 26 minutes into the game, when Jonathan Combie put in a rough tackle. 26 minutes into the game, one of Muir United:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Phil Marnoch shot the penalty kick right outside the post. If Wágner Guedes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Wally McKieson's late challenge caught a Muir United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Wally McKieson helped the player get up and apologised. In the 33rd match minute, Scotland was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wally McKieson to maneuver through the defense. Ricky Lean fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nicky McEwan having to interfere. In the 43rdth minute of the game Jay McKellar who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Scotland's Grant McIlvora was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 47th minute, Wágner Guedes left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Scotland fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Wágner Guedes was the one to do the kick off. Nicky McEwan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wágner Guedes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice moves Duda Saldanha could shoot a difficult shot in the 57th minute, which Nicky McEwan however easily saved by the left post. 63 minutes into the match, Scotland's goal looked a bit too open when Jay McKellar came free, but Grant McIlvora reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 64 minutes into the game, Iain McOwen was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Scotland's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Muir United the free kick. After a defensive mix-up in Scotland's zone, Rupert Campbell stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Grant McIlvora came out of the goal and Rupert Campbell tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nicky McEwan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ricky Lean, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 69 minutes Muir United's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Phil Marnoch who took care of the corner kick. It was a well-played corner which Ricky Lean managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Jay McKellar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The crowd rose to their feet as Wágner Guedes kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Nicky McEwan. That made the score 0-3 in the 75 minute of play. In the 80th minute, Wágner Guedes ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Nicky McEwan was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-4. Wágner Guedes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nicky McEwan having to interfere. Nicky McEwan made a fantastic save in the 88th minute, when Craig Neil sent off a good shot on target. After a rather tough play, Muir United's Fraser Buntain got a free kick in the 89th minute. Phil Marnoch's shot from long distance in the 90th minute was not bad at all, but Muir United's Nicky McEwan knew what was happening and pushed the ball into his arms just before it hit the right post. After some careless play in the Muir United defense, Craig Neil kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nicky McEwan. The Muir United fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nicky McEwan should have stopped the shot. Nicky McEwan didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Craig Neil went, in the 96th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-6 was the resulting score. Scotland's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
