Grant McIlvora showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Emilio Petricca, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. Grant McIlvora came out of the goal in the 18th minute to try and stop a shot by grangemouth's Graeme Souness. But to his dismay, Graeme Souness quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. 21 minutes into the match, grangemouth's goal looked a bit too open when Wágner Guedes came free, but Pitt Frøne reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 23 minutes into the match, Scotland's goal looked a bit too open when Emilio Petricca came free, but Grant McIlvora reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 4-0 at half-time.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Duda Saldanha got free with Pitt Frøne in the 76th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Edmond Niven sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Scotland's Craig Neil was substituted for Duda Saldanha. 83 minutes into the match, grangemouth's goalkeeper Pitt Frøne had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Craig Neil. The Scotland fans' excitement grew in the 88th match minute when Scotland's Craig Neil looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 4-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 91st match minute, Scotland was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Phil Marnoch to maneuver through the defense. Tommy McKilligan, 92 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal.
