In the 3rd match minute, Edinburgh City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Frankie Conlon to maneuver through the defense. James Elliott showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from John McLae in the 5th minute of the match. 11 minutes into the match, Edinburgh City's goal looked a bit too open when Ken Bowmaker came free, but Tom Saunders reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ken Bowmaker in the 11th minute of play forced Edinburgh City's goalkeeper Tom Saunders to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Edinburgh City's Tom Saunders played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Graeme Elliott in the 15th minute of play. 17 minutes into the match, Golspie's goalkeeper James Elliott had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by John McLae. After a rather tough play, Golspie's Michael Barns got a free kick in the 17th minute. A collision led to Edinburgh City getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. John McLae hit a great ball. When Ken Bowmaker came up free with the goalie in the 22nd minute, the Golspie fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ken Bowmaker couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Edinburgh City getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Josh McLairish hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Harold McPhater in the 27th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tom Saunders prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Frankie Conlon in the 28thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of James Elliott, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Frankie Conlon sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Graeme Elliott scored 1-1 in the 34th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Tom Saunders, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After some careless play in the Golspie defense, John McLae kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of James Elliott. The Golspie fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that James Elliott should have stopped the shot. A hard shot 44 in the game by John McLae from a close distance when the talented James Elliott managed to make a qualified save. Golspie's players were relieved. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The wind increased when Ken Bowmaker made the kick off in the second half. Edinburgh City's defense didn't have a chance, in the 53rd minute, when Harold McPhater scored to the left of an out of position Tom Saunders, making the score, 2-2. James Elliott made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from John McLae in the 58th minute of play. A collision led to Golspie getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Graeme Elliott hit a great ball. Frankie Conlon blasted a shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without James Elliott having to make a save. Tom Saunders showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ken Bowmaker, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. Tom Saunders made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ken Bowmaker in the 66th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Golspie's Harold McPhater got a free kick in the 67th minute. A collision led to Golspie getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Graeme Elliott hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by John McLae in the 69th minute of play forced Golspie's goalkeeper James Elliott to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Frankie Conlon in the 70th minute of play forced Golspie's goalkeeper James Elliott to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 71 played minutes Golspie got a freekick which was hit by Donald McKail. After 71 played minutes, Edinburgh City's Ciaran McAy shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper James Elliott came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Edinburgh City reached it. 73 minutes into the game, one of Golspie:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. James Elliott showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Frankie Conlon, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. Harold McPhater recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 90th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 91 played minutes Golspie got a freekick which was hit by Ken Bowmaker. James Elliott showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Frankie Conlon in the 96th minute of the match. Edinburgh City's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
