Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Muir United's Rupert Campbell started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the match, Muir United's Rupert Campbell sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that James Elliott narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After some careless play in the Golspie defense, Jay McKellar kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of James Elliott. The Golspie fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that James Elliott should have stopped the shot. After 15 played minutes Muir United got a freekick which was hit by Jay McKellar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rupert Campbell in the 19th minute of play forced Golspie's goalkeeper James Elliott to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nicky McEwan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ken Bowmaker in the 22nd minute of the match. Muir United's Nicky McEwan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ken Bowmaker in the 24th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Harold McPhater got free with Nicky McEwan in the 26th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Graeme Elliott could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 27th minute of the match, but Nicky McEwan made a huge save. 33 minutes into the game, Donald McKail was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Golspie's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Muir United the free kick. The supporters of Muir United booed when Golspie was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Donald McKail didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 34th minute of the match Ewan Galt sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but James Elliott skillfully saved the ball. Harold McPhater who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 40thth minute tested the skills of Nicky McEwan when he managed to save the team from getting behind. It seemed to be an obvious goal in the 42nd minute, but Nicky McEwan got his fingers on the ball or the save, leaving Muir United hanging dry this time. James Elliott took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rupert Campbell, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nicky McEwan made a fantastic save in the 45th minute, when Harold McPhater sent off a good shot on target.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ken Bowmaker stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Josh Hawes's late challenge caught a Muir United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Josh Hawes helped the player get up and apologised. Josh Hawes hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. James Elliott made an important save on a dangerous shot by Rupert Campbell in the 62nd minute. Through an outstanding action, after 63 minutes, James Elliott successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Gavin Monzie hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. Rupert Campbell got in the 64th minute a good position and tried a long shot which to a great surprise passed a very astonished James Elliott. This was a shot which ended in a score of 0-2. Ken Bowmaker fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nicky McEwan having to interfere. Graeme Elliott took the ball and in the 72 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Nicky McEwan. Nicky McEwan dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. The crowd rose to their feet as Muir United's Jay McKellar slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of James Elliott. That made the score 1-3 after 79 minutes of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rupert Campbell got free with James Elliott in the 87th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 92 minutes into the match, Golspie's goal looked a bit too open when Jay McKellar came free, but James Elliott reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Muir United's zone, Graeme Elliott stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nicky McEwan came out of the goal and Graeme Elliott tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The Golspie supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Muir United's performance. The match ended with a win for Muir United.
