Edinburgh City's Tom Saunders played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edmond Niven in the 26th minute of play. When Emilio Petricca fell near the penalty area in the 27th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored grangemouth's protests and gave Emilio Petricca a yellow card for diving instead. When Edmond Niven came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the grangemouth fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edmond Niven couldn't finish the play. After 33 minutes of play, grangemouth's Edmond Niven made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Tom Saunders was left in no man's land by his defense there! Pitt Frøne made a fantastic save in the 36th minute, when Frankie Conlon sent off a good shot on target. In the 39th minute, John McLae made a precise shot to the right of Pitt Frøne. grangemouth's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. Timmy Kenneth kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. After recieving a nice pass, Edinburgh City's Ciaran McAy tried to score from far away in the 42nd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Edmond Niven sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Emilio Petricca stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Tom Saunders showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Emilio Petricca in the 52nd minute of the match. In the 57th match minute, grangemouth was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Graeme Souness to maneuver through the defense. In the 58th minute Jason Geddes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pitt Frøne saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 64 minutes into the match, Emilio Petricca had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tom Saunders. Edinburgh City's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Emilio Petricca was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-4. After some fancy dribbling in the 73rd minute, Ciaran McAy managed to get in a good position for a shot. Edinburgh City's supporters rose to their feet, but Ciaran McAy was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Pitt Frøne breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 74 minutes, Jason Geddes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Edinburgh City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jason Geddes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jason Geddes in the 77th minute of play forced grangemouth's goalkeeper Pitt Frøne to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
