Spectators: 9164 (Terracing: 6874, Seating: 2108, VIP seats: 182) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Greg McOurlic kicked off to start the match. After a defensive mix-up in Greenock's zone, Greg McOurlic stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Frank Allan came out of the goal and Greg McOurlic tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Frank Allan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Greg McOurlic in the 4th minute of the match. Blair Buckley received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Frank Allan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ciaran Ambrose received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Frank Allan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ian Moray hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ciaran Ambrose got free with Frank Allan in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Guy Docherty showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Miles McAndrew, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. Greg McOurlic sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Fergus Abbie's late challenge caught a Element Zero's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Fergus Abbie helped the player get up and apologised. After 24 played minutes Greenock got a freekick which was hit by Fergus Abbie. Ciaran Ambrose could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 26th minute of the match, but Frank Allan made a huge save. If Douglas Hutchinson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 36 minutes into the game, Miles McAndrew cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Guy Docherty was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Ian Moray received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Guy Docherty tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 41st minute Douglas Hutchinson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Guy Docherty saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Guy Docherty came out of the goal in the 45th minute to try and stop a shot by Greenock's Douglas Hutchinson. But to his dismay, Douglas Hutchinson quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Douglas Hutchinson was the one to do the kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Bruce Carlyle during the 55th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 55th match minute, Element Zero was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bruce Carlyle to maneuver through the defense. Johnny Bateman was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 56th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Guy Docherty made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Douglas Hutchinson in the 64th minute of play. 66 minutes into the match, Douglas Hutchinson dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Guy Docherty, 0-3. Guy Docherty didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Miles McAndrew went, in the 70th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-4 was the resulting score. If Ciaran Ambrose had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Greg McOurlic fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Frank Allan having to interfere. Frank Allan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ciaran Ambrose in the 85th minute of the match. Element Zero's Elliot McMenzies got a good chance for a goal in the 95th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Greenock eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
