Oban
Spectators: 7975 (Terracing: 6000,
Seating: 1815, VIP seats: 160) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Jack Purcell took the kick off in the first half of the match. Iain Lambie made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jack Purcell in the 5th minute of play. Iain Lambie stood somewhat misplaced when Jack Purcell came free in front of goal and shot 1-0 to the left of him in the 8 minute. Owen Jones made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Finlay Gifford in the 21st minute of play. Owen Jones showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Keith McNie, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. Iain Lambie made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Les Barnes in the 26th minute of play. In the 28th minute Oliver Williamson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Iain Lambie saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Iain Lambie made a fantastic save in the 29th minute, when Les Barnes sent off a good shot on target. In the 31st minute, Oban's Jack Purcell ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Iain Lambie. Iain Lambie yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. Iain Lambie made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jack Purcell in the 36th minute. Iain Lambie was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Les Barnes showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 3-0 in the 38 minute of play. In the 42nd minute Tommy Binnie shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Owen Jones saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 43rd minute, George McSwen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Finlay Gifford sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a rather tough play, Oban's Euan Brown got a free kick in the 47th minute. Finlay Gifford recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 48th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Wayne Pollard was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jack Purcell in the 53rd minute of play forced Inverness Warriors's goalkeeper Iain Lambie to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jack Purcell charged in rather forcefully in the 55th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jack Purcell the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Inverness Warriors's Iain Lambie played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jack Purcell in the 58th minute of play. With an all-out effort, Inverness Warriors's Owen Jones threw himself towards the right post 59 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Finlay Gifford, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Iain Lambie showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jack Purcell in the 60th minute of the match. Owen Jones made an important save on a dangerous shot by Finlay Gifford in the 65th minute. When Oban's Jack Purcell in the 67th minute got a chance for a shot 67th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Inverness Warriors's goalie prevented a goal. After 68 played minutes Inverness Warriors got a freekick which was hit by Neil Howison. Oban's Jack Purcell got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Oliver Williamson kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. Wayne Pollard could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 81st minute of the match, but Owen Jones made a huge save. 85 minutes into the match, Oban's goal looked a bit too open when Keith McNie came free, but Owen Jones reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Iain Lambie stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jack Purcell's shot from short distance in the 87th minute. Inverness Warriors's Iain Lambie played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Oliver Williamson in the 88th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Finlay Gifford managed to get in a good position for a shot. Inverness Warriors's supporters rose to their feet, but Finlay Gifford was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Owen Jones breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Oban's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
