If Waldemar Michnik had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Artur Melo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Porfírio Gaspar having to make a save. The supporters of Strong United FC booed when Varelas FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luís Gomes didn't get a good kick on the ball. 20 minutes into the match, Varelas FC's goal looked a bit too open when Mário Dantas came free, but Alexandre Magalhães reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Artur Melo came up free with the goalie in the 32nd minute, the Varelas FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Artur Melo couldn't finish the play. In the 34th minute, Artur Melo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Isidro lacerda fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alexandre Magalhães having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Varelas FC's Jacinto Freitas got a free kick in the 39th minute. Isidro lacerda recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 46th minute, Luís Gomes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Varelas FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Luís Gomes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Porfírio Gaspar breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Hermano Seixas to strike the kick off in the second half. After 53 minutes, Jacinto Freitas mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Varelas FC and the Strong United FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Strong United FC booed when Varelas FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jacinto Freitas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alexandre Magalhães showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paulino Quintanilha, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. A collision led to Varelas FC getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Waldemar Michnik hit a great ball. Isidro lacerda received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Alexandre Magalhães tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Jacinto Freitas was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 79 minutes had been played. After a rather tough play, Varelas FC's Jacinto Freitas got a free kick in the 79th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Artur Melo in the 90th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Porfírio Gaspar saved Strong United FC from getting behind. The Strong United FC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Varelas FC's performance. The match ended with a win for Varelas FC.
