The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute, Vítor Valente hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Dragões FC's Cristiano Maia got a free kick in the 6th minute. In the 10th minute Ahmet Bülent Tolay shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alexandre Magalhães saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Ahmet Bülent Tolay had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ahmet Bülent Tolay received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Alexandre Magalhães tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Dragões FC's zone, Artur Melo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alberto Torres came out of the goal and Artur Melo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Dragões FC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 21st minute, when Markus Hedlund scored to the left of an out of position Alberto Torres, making the score, 1-0. Artur Melo in the 24thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Alberto Torres, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Alberto Torres took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Markus Hedlund, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Dragões FC getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Cristiano Maia hit a great ball. After having played for 29 minutes, Artur Melo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Varelas FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Artur Melo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 35th match minute, Varelas FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Manuel Abreu to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Varelas FC's Jacinto Freitas got a free kick in the 40th minute. Carlos Dias kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Artur Melo to make the kick off. Artur Melo hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. Ahmet Bülent Tolay fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alexandre Magalhães having to interfere. Artur Melo took the ball and in the 60 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Alberto Torres. Alberto Torres dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0. The supporters of Dragões FC booed when Varelas FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Artur Melo didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Ahmet Bülent Tolay had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 78 minutes into the match, Dragões FC's goal looked a bit too open when Artur Melo came free, but Alberto Torres reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Hans Björnsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Dragões FC defense, Jacinto Freitas kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Alberto Torres. The Dragões FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Alberto Torres should have stopped the shot. In the 87th minute, Dragões FC's Ahmet Bülent Tolay ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Alexandre Magalhães. Alexandre Magalhães yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 4-1. Ahmet Bülent Tolay sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Alexandre Magalhães made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ahmet Bülent Tolay in the 94th minute. When the referee blew the final whistle, Varelas FC could leave the field as winners, despite Dragões FC having more of the ball for most of the match.
