Abotega's attentive Vítor Machado managed to snatch the ball when Adalberto Quinaz made a throw-in in the 8th minute of the game. Júlio Carneiro struck a weak shot in the 8th minute. Coleman Gage was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Rui Assis blasted a shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Nuno Moutinho having to make a save. If Rui Assis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 27 minutes into the match, Abotega's goal looked a bit too open when Angelo Osório came free, but Coleman Gage reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 28th minute, Rui Assis got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Júlio Carneiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With a little luck, Abotega's Coleman Gage got control of the ball when Adolfo Prates tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Abotega booed when Gondifellos FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Angelo Osório didn't get a good kick on the ball. 37 minutes into the game, Alexandrino Alves was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Gondifellos FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Abotega the free kick. The supporters of Abotega booed when Gondifellos FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alexandrino Alves didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 39 minutes, Rui Assis managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Abotega's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rui Assis was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Júlio Carneiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Júlio Carneiro was the one to do the kick off. If Pedro Vilar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 60th minute, Rui Assis managed to get in a good position for a shot. Abotega's supporters rose to their feet, but Rui Assis was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nuno Moutinho breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Nuno Moutinho made an important save on a dangerous shot by Rui Assis in the 65th minute. The supporters of Gondifellos FC booed when Abotega was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vítor Alves didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 69 minutes, Vítor Alves mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Abotega and the Gondifellos FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Gondifellos FC's Alexandrino Teves got a free kick in the 72nd minute. In the 76th minute, Abotega's Júlio Carneiro ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Nuno Moutinho. Nuno Moutinho yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. After 79 played minutes Júlio Carneiro rounded Gondifellos FC's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-2. Rui Assis recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
