Cláudio Candeias showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Diamantino Meira's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Murilo Rocha read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 19th minute of play. Calharis's Valdemar Rios got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cláudio Candeias fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valter Fontoura having to interfere. Valdemar Rios received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Murilo Rocha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Regalheiras FC's Murilo Rocha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Valdemar Rios in the 41st minute of play. After having played for 43 minutes, Valdemar Rios managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Calharis's supporters crossed their fingers, but Valdemar Rios was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Valdemar Rios was the one to do the kick off.
