The audience was convinced that Mazinho Travassos's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Mário Ruas was relentless in the 43rd minute of the game. 44 minutes into the game, Dimas Barroso was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Amadeu Guerreiro came out of the goal and Dimas Barroso tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Mário Ruas made a fantastic save in the 73rd minute, when Mazinho Travassos sent off a good shot on target.
