Virgílio Guarda was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Damaia FC's Virgílio Guarda played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Catarino Cunha in the 22nd minute of play. Eduardo Rangel's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Simão Coimbra read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 24th minute of play. 27 minutes into the match, Damaia FC's Paulino Lucena sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Simão Coimbra narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When Antero Lages fell near the penalty area in the 28th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Damaia FC's protests and gave Antero Lages a yellow card for diving instead. Antero Lages kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. The supporters of Damaia FC booed when SC Salavessa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Armando Vale didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aristides Lobo in the 35th minute of play forced SC Salavessa's goalkeeper Simão Coimbra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 39 minutes of play, Damaia FC's Aristides Lobo made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Simão Coimbra was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Paulino Lucena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Aristides Lobo who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 43rdth minute tested the skills of Simão Coimbra when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Antero Lages fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Simão Coimbra having to interfere. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Catarino Cunha stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aristides Lobo in the 51st minute of play forced SC Salavessa's goalkeeper Simão Coimbra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 54 minutes into the match, SC Salavessa's goal looked a bit too open when Paulino Lucena came free, but Simão Coimbra reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Aristides Lobo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Simão Coimbra was relentless in the 56th minute of the game. In the 57th minute, Antero Lages got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Virgílio Guarda dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-2. 71 minutes into the match, Damaia FC's goalkeeper Virgílio Guarda had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Adelino Alves. Eduardo Rangel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Simão Coimbra having to interfere. Simão Coimbra showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aristides Lobo, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. Simão Coimbra made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paulino Lucena in the 75th minute of play. If Eduardo Rangel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Damaia FC's Paulino Lucena in the 77th minute got a chance for a shot 77th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. In the 90th minute Paulino Lucena shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Simão Coimbra saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Damaia FC's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
