Caldas Sport Club were furious when Tiago Palmeira was red carded, 9 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. After 8 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Caldas Sport Club! In the 14th minute, La Salle Futebol Clube's Jaime Amaro dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-1. After 18 minutes of play, La Salle Futebol Clube's Abílio Ramires made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Alípio Osório was left in no man's land by his defense there! Ramiro Ferro kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. 27 minutes into the match, La Salle Futebol Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Hélio Conde came free, but Serafim Calado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Hélio Conde sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Hélio Conde in the 42nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Serafim Calado saved La Salle Futebol Clube from getting behind. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 4-1.

After a rather tough play, La Salle Futebol Clube's Israel Neto got a free kick in the 51st minute. Hélio Conde received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Serafim Calado came out and tried to block the shot, but Hélio Conde slotted it home off the left post making it 4-2 in the 52nd minute. In the 58th match minute, Caldas Sport Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jorge Leal to maneuver through the defense. In the 59th minute of the match Ramiro Ferro shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Alípio Osório showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Caldas Sport Club's Hélio Conde got a good chance for a goal in the 67th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Hélio Conde blasted a shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Serafim Calado having to make a save. Serafim Calado showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hélio Conde in the 77th minute of the match. In the 78th minute, Hélio Conde got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vasco Fraga in the 80th minute of play forced Caldas Sport Club's goalkeeper Alípio Osório to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 82nd minute, Reginaldo Leme got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hélio Conde got free with Serafim Calado in the 84th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Reginaldo Leme came free with the goalkeeper in the 88th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Serafim Calado could save by the left post. Jorge Leal fired away a difficult shot at goal in the 92nd minute. He almost succeeded, but the ball went over. It was a very nice shot. Caldas Sport Club's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because La Salle Futebol Clube had won, even though Caldas Sport Club had held more of the ball.
